This will be the first time the acclaimed franchise will be playable outside of PlayStation consoles.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which contains 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, as well as its spinoff, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, will be dropping on Epic Games Store and Steam on October 19. This news corroborates the previous leak that was found via the Epic Games Store. The confirmation was just revealed via a PlayStation Blog post that details the title's PC-specific features, and congratulated Iron Galaxy, the studio that ported this title to PC, for its work. This collection launched on PlayStation 5 all the way back in January. Though a PC port was confirmed, official information about its release timing had been non-existent up until today.

The blog post touts the breathtaking sights that will now be visible in 4K resolution and lists the wide selection of graphical adjustment options, such as ultra-wide monitor support, adjustable texture and model quality, anisotropic filtering, shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion. It also details quality-of-life additions for PC players, like remade user interface, scale sliders, GPU and VRAM detection, variable load speed, and more.

Iron Galaxy is a veteran development studio, most renowned for its work in porting titles to other platforms. Some of the biggest titles they have moved over to PC include the Batman Arkham games, Skyrim VR, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. However, the team also has several original games under their belt, including their recently released Battle Royale, Rumbleverse.

Iron Galaxy is an independent studio, not owned by Sony, so it's unclear why Sony commissioned it instead of handing the project over to Nixxes Software, a company Sony specifically purchased for the purpose of porting games to PC. Most recently, Nixxes was responsible for the well-received Spider-Man PC port, which launched August 12.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is quite a big hitter to be shedding its PlayStation exclusivity. It further marks PlayStation's new strategy of relinquishing games to the PC market while keeping its games exclusive within the console space. Uncharted is undoubtedly one of Sony's most recognized first-party IPs and is considered by many to be responsible for starting the narrative-driven, third-person action game style PlayStation is known for.

This is the first time any game in the Uncharted series has come to PC — an unusual strategy, given that the original trilogy of Uncharted games are still only playable on PlayStation consoles. Since the series is so narrative-driven, newcomers will likely struggle to relate to the characters, catch references, or follow any overarching plot points. Funnily enough, there is a collection for the first three games called Uncharted: The Nathan Drake collection, but it is only available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
