Milford resident and Foran High School senior, Courtney Musante, was recently awarded the 2022 Britton John Broatch Memorial Scholarship to support her studies at the University of Connecticut in the fall. Musante has been accepted into UCONN's School of Business, where she will combine her passions for finance and criminology to pursue a degree and eventual career path in forensic accounting. The scholarship is awarded each year in memory of Milford resident and Foran graduate Britton Broatch, who died suddenly in 2003 at the age of 25. The award was presented to Musante by James Broatch, Britton's father.

* Nine Paier College students recently received awards for projects completed as part of the school’s Interior Design and Graphic Design programs. Juniors Daniella Ruiz and Edwin Maldanado both won 3rd place in Accademia Riaci’s International Art & Design Competition 2022. Accademia Riaci, an art and design school based in Florence, Italy, holds this international contest each year to discover new artists, foster their talents, and promote its study abroad program. Four teams of Paier students were recognized in this competition including: First Place: Daniella Ruiz, Hamden, Maria Torres, West Haven, Nikah Williams, Fairfield; Second Place (tie): Ariel Joseph, Central Islip, NY, Emily Mitchell, Wolcott, Edwin Maldanado, Ansonia; Second Place (tie): Sarah Cisco, Washington Heights, NY, Eloni Peralta, Elmont, NY; Third Place: Kimberly Bates, Brewster, NY. In addition, Imani Wilbore, a sophomore majoring in Graphic Design from New Haven, was recognized with a Gold Award in the “Embrace the Brace” design competition for a pattern she designed that will be printed on a back brace for individuals with scoliosis.
