DWCS week 7: Vitor Petrino vs. Rodolfo Bellato live results.
Dana White’s Contender Series is back for another Tuesday night fireworks show. On Sept. 6, 10 more of MMA’s hottest prospects step into the Octagon, each hoping to earn themselves a coveted UFC contract.
On DWCS week 6 last Tuesday, fans were treated to an exciting show consisting of three submissions and one knockout. Dana White awarded a contract to all five winners, for the third week in a row. Could we see White become more stingy with the contracts this Tuesday night, or will every victor impress the boss yet again?
This week’s main event is a rematch between light-heavyweight prospects Rodolfo “Trator” Bellato (8-1) and Vitor “Icão” Petrino (6-0). They previously faced each other on the Brazilian regional scene in 2019 when Petrino, making his professional debut, knocked out Bellato in 25 seconds of the very first round. Both men have gone unbeaten since that first fight three years ago, with seven combined finishes.
The opening bout of the evening will take place in the women’s flyweight division. Prague’s Tereza “Ronda” Bledá (5-0) will take on Brazilian native and jiu-jitsu brown-belt Nayara Maia (7-0-1).
Then, for the first time on DWCS, two brothers will compete on the same card. Separated by one fight, Ismael and Gabriel Bonfim will each get the chance to represent their Brazilian family in the UFC.
First, Ismael “Marreta” Bonfim (17-3) will face Nariman Abbasov (28-3) in a lightweight bout between two of the most experienced prospects we have seen so far on DWCS. Abbasov is Tapology’s No. 1-ranked lightweight prospect out of Russia and also currently holds the AMC Fight Nights Global lightweight and welterweight titles.
Before the second Bonfim brother, American heavyweights Karl Williams (6-1) and Jimmy Lawson (4-1) will take the stage to battle it out for a UFC contract. Lawson was originally slated to face Poland’s Kevin Szaflarski, but Szaflarski withdrew over the weekend.
Finally, Gabriel “Marretinha” Bonfim (12-0) will follow up his older brother’s action when he steps into the cage against Florida’s Trey “The Truth” Waters (6-0). Someone’s “O” will have to go in this exciting matchup between two undefeated welterweight finishers.
